Trial and purchase

Read It, Dude offers a 30-calendar-day trial with all reading features available. The trial begins when you complete the hosted Freemius trial registration. Installing the extension or previewing a voice does not start the trial. No credit card is required for the trial, and you will not be charged automatically when it ends. A purchase is required to start new readings after the trial ends.

A household license costs USD $14.99 as a one-time purchase. There is no recurring subscription charge. Any applicable taxes and the total price are shown before you complete checkout. Glitchmodo LLC develops and licenses the extension. Freemius acts as authorized reseller and Merchant of Record for checkout; your browser or its extension store does not process this purchase. Payment must be completed through the checkout provided by Read It, Dude.

Household license

The household license permits the purchaser and members of the same household to use Read It, Dude personally on their computers across supported Edge, Chrome and Firefox installations. There is no numerical limit on household devices or browser installations. Replacing a computer or switching between supported browsers does not require another purchase. A parent or guardian may purchase and manage the license for their household.

You may not resell this license, publish or distribute its activation details, or share it with people outside your household. The household license does not authorize centrally managed deployments, shared institutional devices, or access for unrelated students, employees or other organization members.

An individual's use for their own study or reading at work is not, by itself, an organization-wide deployment.

Schools, companies and other organizations

For school-wide, company-wide or other organization deployments, contact support@glitchmodo.com before deployment to discuss licensing, installation needs and pricing. Such deployments require a separate written agreement with Glitchmodo. Purchasing a household license does not grant an organization deployment license.

Activation and offline use

An internet connection is required to complete a purchase or restore a purchased license on a new installation. After successful activation and voice setup, Read It, Dude on-device voices can work offline. The extension periodically attempts to validate the license when connected. A verified lifetime purchase stays available during network outages without a fixed offline cutoff. A trial keeps its original expiry. Once a cancellation or refund is detected, new readings require an active license; a current passage can finish. Online browser voices may still require a connection to their provider.

Open License from Settings, choose Activate license, and enter your license key to recover paid access after reinstalling or changing browsers. Keep the purchase confirmation and the email address used at checkout. Your key is available in Freemius purchase emails and the hosted customer portal. Using an existing trial key on another installation retains its original expiration. Read It, Dude does not require or authorize the public sharing of activation details. The Privacy Policy explains the billing and activation information handled by Freemius.

Refunds and purchase support

For purchase or refund questions, contact support@glitchmodo.com using the email associated with your purchase and, when available, your receipt reference. Do not send card numbers or other payment credentials. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

You may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase, with no questions asked. Contact support@glitchmodo.com using the email associated with your purchase and, when available, the order reference. Once a refund is processed, the associated paid license is canceled. Online license validation detects cancellation; an offline installation may not detect it immediately.

Third-party rights and availability

The household and organization licensing terms cover Glitchmodo's original extension software. Third-party models, voice presets, runtimes and components retain their own licenses and rights. In particular, the BigScience Open RAIL-M use restrictions remain incorporated in the public voice-model terms. These terms do not replace or restrict rights granted by those third-party licenses.

A one-time purchase carries no recurring subscription charge. Read It, Dude remains subject to the public terms on browser compatibility, availability, changes and disclaimers; the purchase is not a guarantee that every website, voice or future browser version will work.

Using the extension

You may use Read It, Dude for lawful personal purposes. You may not interfere with the extension, attempt unauthorized access, redistribute it unlawfully, or use it in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.

Speech and website compatibility

Read It, Dude reads text using its on-device voices and voices made available by your browser and device. Voices, pronunciation, word highlighting, pause behavior, and website access can vary. Browser-protected pages, PDFs, and some embedded content are not supported. Read It, Dude does not guarantee that every webpage or voice will work.

Read It, Dude voice models

Read It, Dude voices use Supertonic 2 models and voice presets licensed under the BigScience Open RAIL-M License. Its use restrictions, including paragraph 5 and Attachment A, are incorporated into these terms and apply when you use, redistribute, or otherwise interact with these models and their derivatives. You must comply with those restrictions. These models may not be used for prohibited activities such as unlawful uses, exploitation or harm of minors, or harmful uses of personal information.

Model weights and neural operations are unchanged. Glitchmodo exposes existing attention outputs for word highlighting. See the third-party notices and the full license for details. Third-party components retain their own licenses and rights; these terms do not replace those licenses.

Edge and Chrome include model data with the extension. Firefox downloads verified model data from Glitchmodo’s public GitHub release after installation. Setup requires an internet connection and available storage; download and playback availability may depend on your device and browser. Once setup is complete, Read It, Dude voices generate speech locally.

Online voices

An online voice may send reading text to its provider. You are responsible for choosing an appropriate voice for the text you read. Settings includes an option to use only on-device voices, including Read It, Dude voices and voices the browser identifies as local. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Availability and changes

Read It, Dude uses the trial and purchase terms described above. We may change or discontinue features, or update the extension to maintain compatibility, security, or quality. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Intellectual property

Read It, Dude, its design, graphics, and original software are owned by Glitchmodo LLC or used with permission. No rights are granted except the limited right to use the extension under these terms and applicable store rules. Content read by the extension remains subject to its owners’ rights.

Disclaimers

The extension is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glitchmodo disclaims warranties regarding operation, availability, accuracy, and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glitchmodo will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the extension.
